A group of two to six guests will enjoy staying in the charming historic home built on the ranch in 1913. The home boasts a grand covered porch that wraps around two sides of the house. On one side of the porch you will find a fine swing - great for quiet moments and delightful bird watching.

A tenderly cared for cottage garden of native Texas plants that attract birds and butterflies surrounds the home. Birdbaths and bird feeders are part of this Central Texas landscape, and you will see that there is much to enjoy without ever leaving the house.

The kitchen and bathroom have been remodeled recently to prepare for bird watchers. The living room, kitchen, bathroom and two bedrooms are located downstairs, and a large bunkroom takes up the entire second floor. The bunkroom is neat and tidy and the home is essentially portrayed as it may have been in 1913. The décor includes a collection of antiques with several family heirlooms. A recent find is the front bedroom headboard – a compliment to the overall feel of the home.

On any given day, you will enjoy the fresh hill country breeze blowing through the house. For those warm Texas summer days, air conditioning is available as well. A blazing fire can be built and heaters warm the home for that spark of coolness in the late winter.

Bird watching guests prepare their own breakfasts and lunches from the fully-stocked pantry and refrigerator, giving them flexibility for timing their meals to their walking and viewing schedules on the ranch. One morning you may find a hearty breakfast of eggs, sausage and biscuits appeal to you and another morning you might enjoy a continental breakfast of cereal, homemade muffins, juice and fruit. Fresh coffee brews from the moment you turn on the pot. Whatever your desire, you will find something to satisfy your waking appetite at the Wendlandt Wildlife Ranch.

A deli-style lunch can be prepared at any time with condiments and trimmings available to suit most any palate. But save room, because Wendlandt Ranch is notable for delicious home-cooked dinners prepared and served for the evening meals. The Wendlandt’s enjoy catering the evening meal for their guests with enticing entrees such as Grilled Salmon Texas BBQ Chicken, or Grilled Pork Tenderloin.
