- Scroll down for some recent testimonials - From March through June, guests will wake up to the chattering of purple martins and the buzzing of black-chinned hummingbirds. The porch that wraps around two sides of the house is a perfect spot from which to view feeding birds like Titmice, Chickadees, Sparrows, Cardinals, Woodpeckers, Dove, Finch, and Quail. Birdwatchers will be provided an aerial map of the ranch with 6 marked trails of varying length and difficulty. These trails wind for more than 12 miles across oak-covered hills, open meadows, pecan orchards, dense forests and along the Colorado River & Buffalo Creek. In the spring of 2004, there were a number of interesting nesting birds on the ranch - Red-tailed Hawks, Crested Caracaras, Greater Road Runners, Eastern Phoebes, and a large Great Blue Heron Rookery. When the weather warms up in June, guests have an additional option of tube floating 1.5 miles of the Colorado River. Viewing bird life from the water is an exciting experience.
